ca. 1690 map of Jerusalem by Daniel Stoopendaal
The map of content serves as a natural starting place for someone wanting to interact with networked notes. Since these notes do not run in a straight line, it's best to think of them as a web of interrelated ideas. This web works more like a landscape (a notescape perhaps) than a traditional outline. There is no central thesis for these notes, and they are more a space to be explored than an argument to be traced. Like any other landscape, those unfamiliar with the terrain likely need a map to find their way.
This is your map.
The map can be navigated in two different ways: diachronic and synchronic.
A diachronic (or narrative) approach starts at a particular location, say a burning question, and follows the breadcrumbs through the notes watching an answer unfold. I have listed several questions I am trying to answer with these notes below. You can pick up the beginning of the thread with any of those. Navigating the notes this way is like taking a stroll through the city.
A synchronic (or thematic) approach to the notes will start with a broad topic in mind. Think of these like neighborhoods or regions on the map. Listed below are a number of high level topics that can be considered regions of this notescape. Navigating the notes this way is like canvasing a neighborhood.

The missio dei is Trinitarian in essence, cosmic in scope, and developed through God's covenants, which all find their telos in the person and work of Christ.

What is meant by "reaching a city"?
The term reach has a broad definition in Christian mission and ministry today. At the maximalist end is the aspiration to "redeem culture" and transform social and cultural norms, affecting a lasting and holistic change on the city that presses it closer to the kingdom of God. At the other end of the spectrum, a common minimalist definition is the distribution of gospel literature on someone's do... to reach cities for Christ? - How can we effectively evaluate missionaries and ones sents for Great Commission ministry?

North American missionaries must find a way to move past the rhetoric of multiplication and facilitate churches shifting from a recruitment paradigm to a development paradigm.

In the 1950s, an educational theorist named Benjamin Bloom proposed a significant concept that completely changed the way we think about education and learning. If you're an educator, you may be familiar with Bloom's Taxonomy. As part of his theory, Bloom suggested that learning happens across three different but interconnected domains.

In 1984, an educational scholar named David Kolb published a theory about how people learn. His goal was to highlight the extreme significance of experience in learning. Kolb claims that people learn through acquiring new concepts that are usually abstract in nature but can be applied to real life circumstances. In other words, new knowledge is best gained when abstract concepts can be put into practice. The reason people want to learn, in Kolb’s theory, comes through having new experiences t... - Locus of Control

Attention plays an outsized role in determining the quality of our life.
In his book Deep Work, Cal Newport engages the relatioship between the object of our focus and our contentment. For Newport's thesis, he is concerned with the difference between focusing on deep, meaningful work and shallow work or distraction. Ultimately, focusing on deep work as opposed to mindless distraction actually makes someone happier. Newport relies heavily on the work of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in his book Flow...
